Student Council Driving Positive Change at King’s College Riyadh
At King’s College Riyadh, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to be heard. In February, we launched our Student Council to strengthen student voice across the school, creating a platform for students to share ideas, raise suggestions, and help shape their school experience.
The Council brings together representatives from each year group, ensuring that students from across the school have a voice in conversations about school life. Guided by a simple but powerful principle “You Said, We Did” the Council works closely with staff to turn student feedback into meaningful action.
In just a few months, the Student Council has already helped introduce several positive changes that reflect the interests and needs of our students.
Following feedback from pupils, opportunities have been created for girls to play football during break times, giving more students the chance to enjoy sport, stay active, and develop their skills in an inclusive environment.
The Council has also played a key role in expanding lunchtime enrichment opportunities. During the summer months, students can now take part in a variety of activities, including bracelet making, Quran reading, and other engaging sessions designed to encourage creativity, reflection, and connection with friends.
Reflecting on the Council’s impact, Vice Chair of the King’s Council, Marcell Papp said:
“The Student Council gives us a chance to share ideas that matter to students and see real changes happen. It’s exciting to know that our voices are being listened to and that we can help make school even better for everyone.”
These initiatives demonstrate the positive impact that student leadership can have when young people are encouraged to contribute to their community and take ownership of their school experience.
Principal Jacqueline Doran added:
“At King’s College Riyadh, we want every student to feel valued, heard, and empowered. The Student Council is an important part of that commitment. I am incredibly proud of how our representatives have embraced their roles and worked collaboratively to bring forward ideas that enrich school life for their peers. Their enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and leadership embody the spirit of King’s.”
The Student Council reflects many of the values at the heart of King’s College Riyadh — Community, Courage, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Creativity. By listening to one another, working together, and taking positive action, our students are helping to shape a school environment where everyone can thrive.
As King’s College Riyadh continues to grow, the Student Council will remain an important part of school life, ensuring that student voices help guide future developments and opportunities.
