A Legacy of Excellence
For more than 140 years, King’s College has been synonymous with excellence in British education. Founded in 1880 in Somerset, England, King’s College Taunton grew from the vision of Nathaniel Woodard, whose belief in the power of education continues to inspire our schools today.
At the heart of the King’s identity is the Pelican in its Piety, the emblem of a parent bird who gives of itself to nurture its young. This timeless symbol represents the spirit of care, courage, and selflessness that defines every King’s community. Alongside the school’s original motto, Fortis et Fidelis (“Brave and Faithful”), it reminds us that true strength lies in compassion and commitment to others.
Over generations, King’s has become a place where young people are encouraged to be curious, courageous, and kind, achieving academic excellence while developing character, confidence, and creativity. From Taunton to Riyadh, this tradition of holistic education continues to prepare students for leading universities and meaningful lives beyond the classroom.
King’s College Riyadh proudly carries this heritage into a new chapter. In partnership with King’s College Taunton and as part of the global Woodard family of schools, we bring the best of a British education to the heart of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our students learn in an environment that blends heritage with innovation, where every child is known, supported, and encouraged to reach their potential.
Rooted in a legacy of excellence and guided by our shared ethos to Encourage Courage, King’s College Riyadh continues a story that began more than a century ago, a story of learning, care, and aspiration that endures to this day.
